Jay-Z recently made a rare appearance in the Live Lounge at BBC in London and performed “Family Feud” from the 4:44 album, as well as his “Numb/Encore” mashup with Linkin Park in tribute to the late Chester Bennington. Prior to the performance, he sat down with host Clara Amfo for a 20-minute interview. Throughout their chat, Jay spoke on a number of topics including the new album and Blue Ivy’s lyrical contribution at the end of “We Family,” but perhaps most interestingly, he opened up about the political situation in America and sharply criticized Grand Wizard Trump. Check out the full interview below.
I just think he’s not a very sophisticated man, especially when it comes to the idea of until everyone is free, no one is free. Period. That’s just a fact. We are all linked some kind of way. So if you oppress a certain people, everyone is in danger, karmically and in real life. If I’m being oppressed and you have this big, nice mansion, I’m coming inside there. That’s gonna happen, that’s just how life is.
Catch Jay on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live next Saturday, September 30th
